The Membership ExperienceEach February, NAPPA hosts a Winter Seminar followed by our Senior Counsel Meeting. Winter Seminar programming runs for two full days with a half day devoted to each of four practice areas: Benefits, Tax, Fiduciary & Plan Governance, and Investments. Led by NAPPA's Executive Board, the Senior Counsel Meeting runs for a half day and provides an opportunity for members to discuss advanced topics. (Registration for the Winter Seminar and Senior Counsel Meeting opens in December.) Held each June, the Legal Education Conference is an invaluable opportunity to learn more about the law and legal issues affecting public sector plans as well as an opportunity to network with other attorneys who share similar issues. Programming for the LEC is delivered by the Board, the four practice areas noted above, and NAPPA's five educational committees: Cybersecurity, Funding Challenges, New Member Education, Public Safety and Securities Litigation. As an added benefit to our members, application for CLE accreditation of this program is administered by NAPPA. Programming normally consists of 12-15 hours with two hours devoted to legal ethics. (Registration for the LEC opens in April.) Another benefit of membership is the semi-annual newsletter, The NAPPA Report. Published each April and October, the newsletter is written by and for our members and contains articles of general interest. Members have access to NAPPA's e-list, which can be used to reach out directly to other members and receive timely responses directly from peers. |
